Our purpose and mission at the Early Discovery Learning Academy (EDLA) is to provide exemplary, child-centered care for scholars in a safe, secure environment. EDLA is located on the premises of the Renaissance Church of Christ. Our curriculum is tailored to meet the cognitive and developmental needs of children. We will implement Bible stories as part of the curriculum.

EDLA has the following goals:

  • To promote the optimal physical, social, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual growth of each child.
  • To create intellectually inquisitive scholars who become lifetime learners.

  • To provide an environment that is safe, nurturing, and stimulating.

  • To give children access to caring, engaging and intelligent adults throughout the day.

  • To furnish children with a variety of physical activities to enhance their physical skills and developmentally relevant health objectives.

  • To develop in each child a feeling of confidence, academic self-worth, and self-esteem.

  • To promote initiative and independence.

  • To help children learn respect for themselves, their peers, and their community.

  • To foster children's awareness of others and to help them learn how to become part of a group, to share, and to take turns.

  • To help children develop a sense of responsibility for their own actions and for the well-being of others.

  • To encourage children's natural curiosity and interest in exploring their world.

  • To develop children's growing language and their ability to communicate clearly and effectively both with classmates and with adults.

  • To help children develop problem-solving abilities.

  • To give children a variety of experiences that will encourage the development of mathematical and scientific concepts.
